The Tuborg story begins in 1880 in Hellerup, north of downtown Copenhagen. Philip W. Heyman brewed the first Danish pilsner there and bottled it with a distinctive green label. It quickly became popular throughout the country and is now one of Denmark's best-known exports. Tuborg Green is brewed with lightly roasted malt, which gives it its mild, fresh taste. Floral and herbal notes caress the nose until the lively finish. It goes perfectly with light summer cuisine, salads or spicy Asian dishes.

The Tuborg brand is synonymous with the highest quality and has been for more than 125 years. Its origins are in Denmark, while today it is available in over seventy countries around the world, including Germany. The name Tuborg comes from the name of the first brewery in Hellerup, Copenhagen. The property was named after its previous owner "Thuesborg", in German "Thues Burg". In common usage, "Thuesborg" quickly became Tuborg. The early success story of the bottom-fermented pale ale was crowned in 1914 by the title of "Official Purveyor to the Danish Court" - since then the brand has been allowed to bear the Danish crown and the phrase "By Appointment to the Royal Danish Court" on its label.
