There's no question about it: The Montreux Jazz Festival is one of the most renowned music events in Europe and is worth a visit every year. This year, that's especially true: On June 28, Sting's concert at the Auditorium Stravinski will kick off a top-notch two-week cross-section of pretty much every musical genre west of classical and throat singing. It will be followed by terrific artists such as Elton John, sexbomb womanizer Tom Jones, Janet Jackson, Anita Baker, guitar god Slash, electronic geniuses The Chemical Brothers, Rita Ora, Rag'n'Bone Man and the wonderful Ms. Lauryn Hill. Folk legend Joan Baez will also stop in Montreux on her farewell tour, and as a dernière and highlight there will be the "Soundtrack of the 80s" with Quincy Jones and the Sinfonietta de Lausanne.
Also on board in Montreux is an extremely approachable and balanced star: Super Bock will be the official beer partner for the first time this year and will be available at all event locations. The traditional Portuguese beer is a perfectly balanced Lager with a light sweetness and pleasant bitter notes. It has already been awarded no fewer than 35 international gold medals. Super Bock is a perfect match for the Montreux Jazz Festival, and not just because of its high quality. The close connection to music has existed for years: Super Bock is also the eponymous main sponsor of Super Bock Super Rock, the largest rock and metal festival in Portugal.
Super Bock is not only multifaceted when it comes to music, the beer brewed in Porto also proves its versatility when it comes to beer-food pairings. It goes well with all kinds of seafood, but you can also enjoy it with really hearty meat dishes. It's best to test for yourself in which combination it tastes best to you.
By the way, it doesn't always have to be the really big stars at the Montreux Jazz Festival. On the many "side stages" there are numerous free concerts by great musicians to experience, making the event truly a "festival for all". Just as the now sadly deceased founder and visionary Claude Nobs always intended.
