But if you were missing a correct beer answer, then we can probably help you out. We've put together eight classic trivia facts for you. What is the connection between the Danish Nobel Prize winner in physics Niels Bohr and Carlsberg Brewery?

After being awarded the Nobel Prize, Bohr received free beer for life from the Carlsberg brewery. He was also given a villa in the immediate vicinity of the brewery. However, the direct pipeline that is supposed to have transported the beer from the brewing kettle to Niels Bohr's living room, so to speak, comes from the realm of myth. Instead, the beer was delivered to his home either in kegs or bottles. And now, hand on heart: Who is thinking about studying physics after all?

2. Why do Icelanders celebrate their "Beer Day" on March 1?

Because on a March 1, the Icelandic parliament decided to lift the legal ban on beer. Such a ban sounds crazy enough, but we find the year it ended even more incredible: 1989. In Icelandic, the holiday is called "bjórdagurinn" and apparently pub crawls are part of the typical celebrations. By the way, March falls just in the season when you can experience the Aurora Borealis in Iceland. Stable combo, we would say.

3. what do you get when you order a "Poor man's Black Velvet" in the pub?

Guinness and cider. A good bartender ensures that the liquids do not really mix, but remain as two layers, so to speak. For the "poor man" the drink is because the real Black Velvet contains champagne or some other millionaire's brew in addition to Guinness. For good measure, here are a few more ways to mix Guinness: Black & Tan (with a Pale Ale), Blacksmith (with Smithwick's).

4. what is cenosillicaphobia?

This is a condition that is particularly widespread during live broadcasts of football matches in the pub - the fear of empty glasses. But before anyone tries to bill the next pint to the health insurance company, this phobia is not officially recognized as a disease. On closer inspection, the word seems to have been invented by students of a humanistic high school who regularly skipped ancient Greek. At least you are now prepared for the question!

5. how many times did the monks have to rebuild Grimbergen Abbey - and thus their brewery - in its nearly 900-year history?

Incredibly three times the abbey fell victim to a conflagration and burned down more or less completely. And each time it was rebuilt again. Hence the logo that still adorns the Grimbergen bottles today: the phoenix that, like its model in Greek mythology, rises from the ashes to shine again in full splendor.

6. what is the most expensive beer in the world?

The most expensive beer ever sold is a seemingly completely unspectacular Helles from Löwenbräu. What makes the bottle extraordinary is what it has experienced, or more precisely, what it has survived. It was there when the airship Hindenburg burst into flames on landing near New York in 1937 after crossing the Atlantic. The price for the bottle cannot be clearly determined, as it has been auctioned off several times and different sums in different currencies are floating around the net. However, it certainly fetched well over 10,000 francs.

7. where does the Bel Air Sour of Brooklyn get its name?

It would be obvious to think of the posh district of Los Angeles, where Will Smith once lived nobly. Summer, sun, palm trees - the connection seems obvious. But far from it, the Bel Air Sour owes its name to a car, and a very special one at that. It was named after the Chevrolet Bel Air of a Brooklyn Brewery employee, a classic American convertible.

8. in which brewery was the first pure yeast culture developed, which is still used today in many bottom-fermented beers?

Carlsberg. The brewery founder J.C. Jacobsen worked with great ambition to modernize brewing and ensure the quality of the beer produced. Therefore, he hired a young scientist named Emil Christian Hansen, who bred a yeast culture that guaranteed reliable results in the brewing process. It logically bears the name "Saccharomyces Carlsbergensis".

So, that's it for now. Good luck with the next Pub Quiz!

PS: So that no one says we do not look beyond the plate: The self-defense from Friends is called "Unagi". It should be added: a terrific episode!
